Nirmala was a small town girl. She belonged to a middle class
Brahmin family where her father ran a small stationary shop for the livelihood.
As growing up in middle class family and seeing her father struggling to keep
the family running, Nirmala decided that one day she will become a doctor and
serve the nation. Nirmala put all her efforts and got very good marks in her
10th exam. Nirmala put all her efforts and got a rank of 1459 in her CET. She
had no quota, nor she belonged to any backward class. She failed to get a good
college in CET. While her friend who got rank 3235 and has SC quota,got his
admission in one of the best Medical college. This made Nirmala lose faith in
herself and she decided to quit this life and she killed herself. Helpless
father of Nirmala tried to fight against this. But no one came for his help.
His complaint was closed a week after stating that Nirmala is weak heartened
and she doesn't have guts to face this world.
This is not the story of Nirmala, it is the story of thousand
Nirmalas who face this situation every day. Not only in case of entrance exams,
this problem is everywhere in the public sectors. The one who studies hard will
not get the expected result, because of the reservation based on caste system.
But no one tells a word against it. Reservation system has killed the real
talents. That is the reason we see most talents in the IT and Industry sector
than Govt.
The reason why i am telling all this is because of the recent
incident that made a big news. Rohit Vemula suicide case. If we see the
background of this case, ABVP activists expressed objection to Rohith's
alleged protest against the death penalty for Yakub Memon, a convict in 1993
Bombay Bomb blast in which 257 people were killed and also his
condemnation of the ABVP attack on the screening of the documentary
‘Muzaffarnagar Baaqi Hai’ in Delhi University. Action was taken against
Rohith by college due to his involvement in an alleged attack on ABVP activist
Nandanam Susheel Kumar. Rohit and his 4 friends were suspended from university
and the stipend of 25k was stopped. After 6 months of this incident Rohit
commited suicide with a note.
Even if we see Rohit's suicide note we do not see anything that
makes the issue so big (

). Sometimes I wonder if it was some other student (Non Dalit) no one
would have bothered. RaGa and Kejriwal wouldn't be so much concerned about
this. All these aftermath seems to be vote bank politics and a political
play.
Those who really want to eradicate caste system shouldn't support
any caste. They should just value humanity and truth. If he is Dalit or
Brahmin, law should be same. The so called political leaders, who are screaming
in favour of Rohit and ASA, should also scream when thousands of Nirmalas
commit suicide. If you are fighting for the abolition of caste system, then
reservation should be removed first.
If speaking out your heart is a crime then where is the value for
